Environmental Analysis of Aerosol Pollution
A SPAMS system lets you observe particulate pollution where it occurs and as it occurs. By determining the size and chemical composition of individual environmental aerosol particles in real-time, a SPAMS allows the observation of internally vs. externally mixed aerosol pollutants. A rich literature dating back more than two decades has been generated from similar instruments.
The SPAMS system was commercialized to address the shortcomings of the TSI Model 3800 ATOFMS. SPAMS 3.0 systems degrade gracefully, even under extremely high particle loads. The systems’ broad dynamic range of particle sizes means that they can observe nearly all particles of interest, given its broad range of particle size. SPAMS systems are remarkably field rugged. A SPAMS 2.0 was within 100 feet of a 10,000 lb. rocket engine when it was detonated. Similar instruments have been deployed on air, land and sea.
